Project overview

BuildWithGuru Sticky Header & Footer Builder for Elementor is a free WordPress plugin. It lets you design custom headers and footers with Elementor’s drag-and-drop editor and, if you want, make the header stay in view as visitors scroll.

It is a product we built and maintain ourselves, first published on WordPress.org in December 2024. It is not a client commission.

Context

Elementor sites usually get their header and footer from the theme, which limits what can be designed and makes a sticky header either a theme setting or a custom-code job. This plugin moves both into the editor people already use.

What it does

  • Build a custom header and footer visually in Elementor.
  • Make the header and footer sticky, so they stay on screen while scrolling.
  • Choose whether the sticky behaviour applies across the whole site or only on selected pages, and include or exclude pages.
  • Requires Elementor to be installed and active.

My role and contribution

I developed and published the plugin. WordPress.org lists a single contributor for it.

Technology stack

PHP and WordPress, extending Elementor. The WordPress.org page lists WordPress 5.0 or newer and PHP 7.2 or newer as requirements.

Security and maintenance

The 1.1.3 release notes on WordPress.org list nonce verification and input sanitisation fixes. Those are the standard WordPress checks that stop a plugin’s settings being changed by a forged request or by unsanitised input.

Measured outcomes

None are published here. Active installations and reviews are shown on the plugin’s WordPress.org page, which is the source to trust. We would rather show you a real listing than quote a number we cannot evidence.

What this means for your project

If your site is built with Elementor, this is the kind of focused, standards-conscious work you get: a header and footer that behave the way you designed them, without a stack of extra plugins.
