WordPress Development Built to Last

We build WordPress sites, themes and plugins the way the platform intends: clean code, standard APIs, security checks and no unnecessary plugins. The result is a site that is faster, safer and cheaper to maintain.

Who this is for

  • Businesses that need a custom WordPress site rather than a stock template.
  • Teams that need a specific feature built as a small, focused plugin.
  • Agencies and freelancers who want a reliable WordPress developer for part of a project.
  • Owners inheriting a WordPress site that nobody fully understands.

Too many plugins

Ten plugins doing the job of one slow the site, widen the attack surface and create update conflicts.

Code you cannot hand over

Custom work without comments, standards or documentation traps you with the original developer.

A site that breaks on update

Poorly written themes and plugins fail when WordPress or PHP updates, usually at the worst moment.

Security as an afterthought

Missing nonce checks, unsanitised input and unescaped output are the everyday causes of WordPress compromises.

How we write WordPress code

We build our own WordPress products, including Guru Site Health, a site-audit plugin published on WordPress.org. That work is the best evidence of how we approach client projects, and you can read the case studies below.

On client projects the same habits apply. These are the working standards we aim for:

  • Follow the WordPress coding standards and use core APIs instead of reinventing them.
  • Check capabilities and nonces on every action that changes data.
  • Sanitise input, validate it, and escape output at the point it is printed.
  • Use prepared statements for any direct database access.
  • Keep the plugin count low and justify each one.
  • Write the code so another developer can pick it up, and tell you where things live.

What you get

  • Custom theme or a well-chosen base, adapted to your design
  • Custom plugins for features that should not live in the theme
  • Configuration of essential plugins, with a reason for each
  • Security hardening and sensible backup set-up
  • Performance-conscious build: optimised images, fonts and scripts
  • Documentation of what was built and where
  • Handover training for your editors

Lower long-term cost

Clean code and fewer plugins mean fewer update conflicts and less emergency work later.

Safer by default

Security checks are part of how we write code, not a feature we add at the end.

Hand-over friendly

You or another developer can maintain the result. We write for the next person.

How it works

5 clear steps, so you always know what happens next and what is expected of you.

Start the first step

  1. Requirements

We define what the site or feature must do and what is out of scope.

  2. Architecture

We choose the simplest structure that works: theme, plugin, or both.

  3. Build

Development on a staging site so your live site is never touched until it is ready.

  4. Test and harden

Testing across devices and a security and performance pass.

  5. Deploy and document

    Launch, documentation and handover.

Frequently asked questions

Can you build a custom plugin for one specific feature?

Yes. A focused plugin is often better than a large general-purpose one. We scope the feature, build it to WordPress standards and document it.

Can you take over a site built by someone else?

Often, yes. We review the code, theme and plugins first and tell you honestly whether to improve it or rebuild. We will not promise to fix what we have not seen.

Do you use page builders?

Where it suits the project and your team. Elementor is one we work with regularly. See the dedicated Elementor page for how we keep builder sites tidy.

Which hosting do you recommend?

It depends on traffic, budget and features. We explain the options and set up the account in your name. We do not push a particular provider.
